Serves: 4 servings
- 2 cups steamed whole milk
- ½ cup chopped fresh turmeric
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon cardamom pods
- 1 tablespoon chopped peeled fresh ginger
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 teaspoons whole cloves
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 orange pekoe tea bags
- ground turmeric (optional)
- In a saucepan, bring the water, ginger, chopped turmeric, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon stick to a boil over medium-high.
- Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Remove from the heat. Add the tea bags and let stand for about 10 minutes.
- Pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl, discarding the solids. Stir in the honey.
- Pour the steamed milk evenly into 4 glasses. Pour ¼ cup of the tea mixture into each glass.
- Sprinkle with ground turmeric, if desired.
